Or because pressing on the edge of a turntable might be in the way? Or because jamming on some buttons might skip your record? Could be. I think in "battle style" these won't really be in the way, and they do come with "dj putty" to anchor it if you want to put it on your laptop instead of the turntables, and on the turntable it does sink into the 45 cutout notch.
